STOP Error

We a computer that has Windows 2000 Advanced Server installed on it & boots to the following blue screen:

*** STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC000001D,0xED418916,0x8189D812,0x00000000)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
*** Address ED41896 base at ED418000, DateStamp 39bd5a2e - Gernuwa.sys

We can't boot to safe mode to uninstall anything, and I already updated the BIOS to latest version.

Anyone have any ideas of what can we do to resolve this error?

Has the server ever successfully loaded to the logon screen? When did you start getting the stop error?

From Recovery Console, I think you'll want to DISABLE whatever product is trying to load that device driver (is it PCAnywhere?). Use the LISTSVC command to show what services/drivers are loading. If you don't see that GERNUWA.SYS specifically, then disable the appropriate service that may be calling that driver. I believe the syntax is simply:
DISABLE "SERVICENAME" (no quotes, where SERVICENAME can either be the service or driver itself)

Thanks brontosaurus...for all your help! We had already figured out the problem was with PCAnywhere, but the file was not listed as a service. We extracted the file from the PCAnywhere CD and copied it to the server. This fixed the problem. Thanks again for your help.
