I have what the Microsoft Online analysis calls a windows stop error: a device driver is apparently at fault, but they can't specify which one. I have disabled my CD-Rom driver, sound card driver, etc, one at a time to track it down, but it keeps happening. There seems to be no pattern to the crashes: no activity that triggers it- it sometimes happens when the system is idle. IS there some online analysis that can look at my computer and find the problem, or do I have to take it in and put it on the bench for $$$$? Thanks,

If you are getting an error msg you can look at the link.

also if it is going by so fast you can't read it, enable event logging then look at the log.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on these sites.

Search by error code:

"STOP 0x0000007B" error message when you restart your Windows XP-based computer

could well be a bus driver for your motherboard that's at fault

Have you looked to see if there are updated drivers for all your components - just try update them all anyway - it can only help

To get further information about any error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on these sites.

Also check any "Information" line that mentions "savedump" and you should find reference to "recovered from a bug check". This is the Stop Error that caused your problem.

You can also turn off "automatically restart after an error" so it will just halt at the fault and display the full Stop Error and blue screen.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties .
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery .
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure , and then click OK . The error message on a blue screen should remain on the screen so you can record the error information.
