STOP error caused by NAV Corporate?

Hi all,

We have Norton Antivirus Corporate 7.5 installed on our Windows 2000 server and clients. For the most part, it works well, but every once in a while I get a STOP message (aka Blue Screen of Death) like the following:

STOP 0x00000044 (0x82344Ba8, 0x00000cca, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS.

It only seems to happen after I launch the console services for NAV.

Does anyone else get this error? I'm thinking it might be an issue with Norton's drivers and "some other" but I'm trying to narrow it down here.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

No, I don't have a USB anything. I've already checked out that KB article and can't really find anything to apply to what I have! I also don't have the Falstaff.sys file.

Thanks for the help though! J.R. Juiliano

I think you are definitely correct, it is a driver issue. But tracking that second driver is going to prove to be difficult. Don't have a Diamond Video card do you, I have seen those drivers cause problems in the past. If you do happen to track down the specific driver could you let me know. Happy Hunting.

Nope. It's a Cirrus Logic card, unfortunately. Came with the Intel 440 GX+ MoBo we installed.

Thanks for the help. I will let you know if I find anything.

If you swap the video card, doesn't that answer the question, if you force it to use an alternative driver?

In the past I have pulled all but video, then swapped video, then swapped memory/used different slots, and ultimately it USUALLY does the trick.

In install of System Works 4.01 for PC on Win 2000 pro machine, I have had Win 2000 tell me that critical system files have been replaced, and then asked for Win 2000 CD to put originals back. I believe there are undocumented Norton issues that are not being given enough press. I have many other boxes with no problems at all, and can find no common ground with the problem boxes, even after switching all components.

Go figure. Let me know resolution on your problem.

It's something I can try!

I have to agree with you about undocumented problems, unless it has to do with other system's problems. For example we couldn't upload the client programs until we found out that certain clients didn't have the correct shares. They picked that one right up, didn't they? :)

I rceived this message but the strange thing is that I received it on a Windows NT 4 SP5 server. I am running Norton Antivirus 5 and NAV for Exchange.

Never received before but I have gotten it twice this past week. Haven't added anything to the server and we are not running any USB devices. I have looked for through the info in the KB article, but it's specific to Win2K.

I installed WinXP, then installed Norton Systemworks 2002 and Norton Internet Security 2002. NIS 2002 caused a conflict with Systemworks so I uninstalled both and then reinstalled only Systemworks. Upon reboot I noticed a MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS ***Stop: 0x00000044 (0x81ae0c48, 0x00000d60, 0x00000000, 0x000000000. I rebooted again and ran in safe mode but Systemworks wouldn't allow me to uninstall in safe mode. I can get on the desktop sometimes for a few seconds and then I get the same stop error again. What the heck do I do now? I have a P3-850Mhz, 656MB RAM, with a Creative Digital Sound Card, a RIVA TNT 32MB video card, a Linksys NIC, and 3 IDE and 1 SCSI HD.

Drew M. -- Can you get Internet access through the safe mode and update the program through Live Update? See if that will fix the problem.

I actually (sort of) fixed the problem I had with mine. I uninstalled the server program from my domain controller and I have not had one crash yet. I put the AntiVirus program on two different Windows 2000 Professional workstations.

The main problems I could think of were that there were too many packets flowing with DNS and another program we had, plus Zone Alarm Pro screwing with everything. When too many clients logged on at once, BOOM. Since I took it off server I have yet to have a crash. J.R. Juiliano
