stop backup starting at 4am

I have posted this before and recived some good info but I can't find where to make the relevant changes.

My server backups are due to start at 10pm but some start at 4am for some reason. I was told it was overwrite protection. Can someone tell me:

1. where I change this in backup exec - it doesn't happen every night only on some occasions. Then the verify is continuing into the start of the working day.
2. When they talk about media sets - is this a single tape or the group of tapes that comprise your backup strategy?

Under job setup tab, select a job and click properties and look under Destination Device & Media.
Then right click on a tape under the media tab and it will let you set overwrite and append attributes to the tape.
Media set can contain one or more tapes.
