STK L700

I have a L700 with 9940B drives. I am replacing them with LT03 drives. What do I need to do to get L700 to see them. Will I have to IPL L700 after I swap them out. Also what to I do at the ACSLS. On the powderhorn I have to keyin at the ACSSS console CONFIG DRIVES (PANL NUMBER). Do I need to do this also and what are the panal number.

I would fit one LTO3 first, to make sure they are going to work. The L700 should auto configure the drive. If the ops panel shows status of 'empty' then it has worked. If not, reboot the L700. If it still doesn't pick up the LTO3 then you have a firmware compat issue.

As for the ACSLS side, all tape drives on an L700 are on panel 0.
