I thought I had exclude filters figured out. I was wrong. We are running R12 and I want to use it to exclude a file from a network machine. The file will always give W3406 (Lock violation) and cause an "incomplete" to be shown for the job status. In the job setup I expend the "network" menu item and set a filter by clicking on the machine name and adding a filter (file exclude) for
c:\M90W\MAS90\HOME\LIB\KEYS\activate.pvx
This shows up as a node filter if I look at the job detail. If I right click on the same machine name and select "use agent" the check box to enable this is not selected.
Is this something I need to do with global filters? I've looked through the administrator's guide and don't see anything that describes when you use global filters and when you use them on a machine by machine basis. I've got other filters that are working. This are setup just for the machine and are all for linux hosts.
Any guidance, including pointers to docs, would be helpful.
Also, what does the "use agent" do? My backup works without it being selected. I've got an agent on the remote machine and it seems it wouldn't work without it.
