Hello,

I am a bit of a loss how to connect to an OpenEdge 10 (Progress) database with Crystal XI.

The database resides on a server. Does anybody know the steps that are needed to be able to write reports from this database. I did a search here on this site, but didn't really see anything that fits the bill. Any help would be much appreciated

Jason

There should be an ODBC driver for the OpenEdge 10 (Progress) database.

Once you configure a SYSTEM DSN for that driver on the workstation where the CR-XI is installed, you should be able to connect to the database through the ODBC options under "Database Expert" -> "Create New Connection" path in the CR-XI application.

So basically, I need to install Progress on the local workstation as well, to get the proper ODBC driver?

Forgive my lack of experience :)

Thanks,

Json

You don't need the whole DB, just the OBDC driver.

You should be able to install the OBDC driver without the DB.

In between the last messages I had tried to do that. The install immediately failed because I have the client portion installed on the local machine. According to the Progress KB, I should be able to download and install a SQL client access license that will include ODBC and JDBC drivers.

I will let you know. Thanks for your help!
