I recently replaced my R3.0 processor with an R6.0. I am trying to program the processor to work with my Partner Mail VS5.0. Remote PC programming is not working, so I need some help with programming steps to get the ACS unit to work with the existing VS5.0.

Additional info as follows:
1) Slot 1 is 206E, slot 2 is VS5.0, slot 3 is ACS R6.0
2) 4 lines, 3 to be handled by AA
3) Ports for VM are Ext. 28 and 29
4) Only ext. 10 is currently getting answered, and on the 1st ring.

Since I usually do the programming from a PC, I'm a little rusty on the manual programming steps. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi pvision,
Okay, #505 group 7 ext 28,29 assigned -okay
#206 group 7 - assign the co's (01,02...) as you need.
That should get your AA running.
#506 to set the delay for each line (try 1)
#507 to set the schedual (day, night, always) set always
#124 enter to save your changes.

Thank you itphoneguy for your help. System is working fine now. For some odd reason, Remote Admin did not work with the PC I have always used to program ACS systems. I had to drop down to 300baud just to connect, but could not stay connected long enough to program. A few days after I reprogrammed with your assistance, I tried a different PC with a cheap Winmodem, and it worked fine. Perhaps the new ACS processor was generating some line noise that the old modem (USR Sportster V.90) just could not handle.

By the way, is it possible to dial in to the ACS unit from a remote location? I tried doing this, but I got a message that extension 76 was invalid. I've only been successful when hooking my PC to a local extension, and dialing extension 76.

Thanks again.

Hi pvision,
Yep, you can program remotely. Set ext 76 to hunt group 776. When you dial in, insert some commas in the dial string followed by 776. I usually have to put 8 or nine commas in.
Ext 76 is not normally valid for the VS series VM. If you have a newer voicemail, give ext 76 a transfer only mailbox. That will work instead of huntgroup 6 (776). Don't forget to restore from card to make your upload active. (Reboots system)
