I was wondering if there was a way to select an object on the diagram and select a stencil and do a key command or something to swap the two objects. So that the stencil will replace the object on the diagram. The stencil would take on the same properties (size, position, location, name, etc..) on the diagram.

There are so many times I have to click the object, delete it, drag a new stencil in and resize it.

Thanks!

Maybe I'll ask again.

Thanks,
Matt

Visio does not have the capability of replacing shapes. A Visio shape is not always a simple entity so determining how to replace one shape with another is not easy. A Visio shape may have several text blocks, what do you do if the new shape has more or less text blocks, or more or less custom blocks?

Having said that, you may want to try one of the third party Visio developers, like Visimation. They may have created a utility to do this for the simpler cases.
