Folks yesterday I had an issue whereby (7) Windows 2003 x64 servers that I support for one of my clients had patches installed without any intervention by myself or anyone on our team.
I recently heard about the stealth updates that MS had applied on Vista and XP systems and I am wondering if anyone has experienced on this servers
I discovered that the following versions of Windows Update Agent were installed;
Directory of C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\SoftwareDistribution\Setup\ServiceStartup\wups
.dll\7.0.6000.381
07/30/2007 07:18 PM 33,624 wups.dll
Directory of C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\SoftwareDistribution\Setup\ServiceStartup\wups
2.dll\7.0.6000.381
07/30/2007 07:19 PM 43,352 wups2.dll
These are the same ones that have caused issues on Windows client machines
The patches that were applied were for Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 SP1
I have opened a ticket with MS and I am having them investigate. I am wondering if the same "shenanigans" are being applied on servers out there.
