stealing a spell-checker

is there a way to use MSWORD's spell checker to check the spelling of words in a text box in a form?

yes through com automation. Set a reference to the Word Object library and you will then have the functionality of word in your application.

However you can only use this if the target machine has Word installed. It cannot be freely distributed.
