I am curious if Avaya is planning on having a similar certification program ? Also what are the independents and non contract's doing for access to patch's and pep's ?

as far as I can tell they will incorporate Nortel into their curriculum in avaya university -looking at their website - you are going to have to get one of their certifications.since most of their focus is on their new AURA communications manager.
they have 4 tiers-

APSS- Avaya professional sales specialist
APDS- Avaya professional Design Specialist
ACSS- Avaya certified solutions Specialist
ACSE- Avaya certified solutions Expert
