When trying to backup Oracle or any directory on a Solaris 9 server, the job immediately ends with "The backup failed to back up the requested files (6). In the reports section under problems, "Requestor <client-server-name> is not a valid server for query 1".

I am able to connect from my master server to the client when doing properties from the host properties.

How are your device selections selected? Are you using "all local drives" or something else?

I have two servers that I am having this problem with and one is using "all local drives" and the other server has Oracle on it that we are trying to backup up the the only selection is hotdatabase.bkup.sh.

check the bp.conf to list
SERVER = $servername
and then check forward/reverse name resolution

check the user_directed schedule in the policy

try initiating backups originating from master server
