Statistics Issue/Bug

I have a small number of queries that are running slow since we have upgraded from 8.0.5 to 8.7. Not all queries are now slow...only about 2. I remember an issue with how Oracle calculated its statistics in 8.0.5 versus 8.1.6.2. I know that we encountered a similar problem on another project where after we did an analyze, a number of our queries became very slow.

Two requests:
1. Any ideas on the slow query and
2. Does anyone know that bug number on the statistics
so I can research it?

How did you analyze your database? Did you use dbms_utility.analyze_[schema|database] or some script calling "analyse table [estimate|compute] statistics? They work DIFFERENTLY but I do not know bug number if this is a bug. We had similar problems when upgraded from 7.3 to 8.1.6.
You may also add hints to your queries.
