I am one of those that look at my station alarms all the time to find out if a phone is unplugged, moved etc.
now with more and more associates working from home and losing their desks and actual phones we have gone to softphone or just voicemail.
I can't find a solution for the softphone people. I need to leave their phones programmed but it creates an alarm because the hardware is gone.
does anyone know a way around that.
thank you

Change the port on the station form to 'X'. That will eliminate the alarm. The station will still count towards your total Right-to-Use (RTU). For people that only have a mailbox, remove their station and add it back in with a type 'virtual'. Include the Coverage Path. Virtual stations do not count toward the RTU.

sorry I probably did not discribe the problem correctly. I can't use the X port because the softphone needs to have an IP station to work.
yes the voicemail people I do use the virtual but its the softphone users that I am trying to work around
thank you

IP SoftPhone can be configured using 'x' ports. You do not need to assign a physical port.

Hi maybe I am not in the correct place but when I do a change station the port field for an IP phone is not available to make it Xported. I know it has to be an IP phone to work as I tried using a digital..
thank you

You don't have to define the Station as an IP set type. IP SoftPhone works very well configured as a digital set such as a 2420. Use an x-port with a digital set type.

Kevin

You can make the phones for softphone as digital set as 4merAvaya stated. On page one of the form set IP softphone to yes.
Also, if there user is logged in with the IP softphone you will not be able to make the change. Because is will be an IP port at that time.
