We are having a problem with 2(port 3 & 4) of our 4 voice mail ports. When the voice mail answers there is so much static on the line it is hard to hear callers and makes it difficult for them to leave a message. We have checked our lines and it is consistantly on the same two voice mail ports. Since it is an internal voice mail I have no way of checking the connections to the voice mail... does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks,

Kurt

I may have fixed it. I powered down the system and removed the card for port 3 and 4 and reseated it and the problem looks like it has gone away. That brings up another issue.. what is the correct order to power up a 2 cabinet system?

Thanks again.

Kurt

ALWAYS, RIGHT TO LEFT.

Whether 2 or 3 Carriers.

(And waiting a couple of seconds between each one is not a bad idea either)

you could go left to right, if you wanted to keep things interesting:)

Well, now we get into the issues of which Power Unit comes up first.

Right to left, unless you care to play CARRIER ROULETTE !

hey guys,
I would like to point out a note from the Merlin legend Install, spm, maintenance, and troubleshooting guide on page 2-46 on powering down the system:

1. Turn off the power supply on the basic carrier.

2. Turn off the power supplies on the expansion carriers.

3. Unplug any auxillary unit's

4. Unplug the system from the AC outlet

So, in other words, it is saying to go left to right on a power down, and right to left on a power up.

I agree 100% merlinman and jinxs. I was making joke about keeping it interesting by doing it backwards (hence the smile at the end of my post). I used to have a lot of guys call me and complain the system never came back up completely, only to find out they powered up the carriers in the wrong order. I know it's Monday, so I will keep the humor to a mimimum.

I still say, RIGHT TO LEFT, UP OR DOWN.

(But of course I know, POWER DOWN DON't CARE)

The only reason we used to tell the techs to do it the same way power down or up was so they would always do it the same way.

But definitely, POWER UP RIGHT TO LEFT ! !
