I am getting static on line 2 (only on the initial off hook, goes away after dialing first digit), Extension 11 of an ACS R6 processor, with a Voice Mail VS R4 in slot 2 and a 200 module in slot 1.

The repair facility that I use said some ACS R6 processors have this problem. Has anyone heard of this? Is their a way to overcome the static? Remember the static is only at Extension 1 and only when you first come off hook, after you dial the first digit the static goes away.

I can't say that I've seen that before. Usually static indicates either a wiring issue or a port is going bad. The problem as described is strange to say the least. [ponder]

Yes the system is grounded

Do you get the same issue when you go off hook with your butt set on that line? Trying that could help to isolate whether it's a PARTNER issue or a line issue. Other options to test - swap that line into a different port - does the problem persist?

When it comes to grounding the Partner ACS processor, the following thread posted a while back is worth reading.

Hal B wrote extensively about problems caused by differences in electrical potential caused by grounding to building steel or could water pipes.

Oops...even a spell checker can't catch all problems. [purpleface]
