static first row in table

I have a table (Suprlus Items) with column headings Material, Width, Length, Price, Part Num, etc. Each row lists a Part Num and it's info for each col.
My question.. how can I keep the first row with the column names to remain static as users scroll down the table? I want users to be able to see the column names as they move down the table

Thank you! I especially like that it uses CSS. I'm trying to use that as much as possible.

A warning though, that method doesn't seem to work in IE8 or IE8 in compatibility Mode.
