I have an issue when we transfer an external incoming call to an internal extension, a 2-4 second "hum" or static is heard before it reaches that extension. There are no audio issues during the call

The client is concerned with customers hanging up after they hear the loud hum thinking they were disconnected.

It does this on all transfers.

any Ideas?

MOH source? Do you have music on hold and is it working? or did the MOH source die or get removed without someone outing it in the system?
Just a thought....

What sort of trunks are they and what type of extensions are you transfering to?

Analog trunks

And transfers from digital to digital

I would check the earth on the PABX. It should measure less than .5 ohm to the building earth.

^ so you guys think this is a grounding issue?

Before it reaches the extension". I guess I would disabled a TDS one at a time to see if you can eliminate the problem. Then disable one CONF loop at a time to eliminate those.

My gut feeling? Prolly not ground - you would have more issues than this if the ground were that bad - but I would definitely not skip over the idea.
