Hi All,

When I run the "top" command on our primary server I get the following to processes at the top... what do them mean?

%CPU

0 root 0 -20 12k 9160k 0.0 non 0:00/22:49:39 49.9/ 0.3

0 root 0 -20 12k 9160k 0.0 non 0:00/22:49:39 49.9/ 0.3

I do not have a full answer but my guess is you have 2 CPUs and these are the "idle" processes, meaning when the CPu does "nothing" it does these process.

A CPU cannot do nothing, it always has to do something , so when it has nothing to do , it does the 'nothing' process

Thanks brossob,

That is kind of what I thought the answer was, by the way we have a 6-way 500Mhz CPU so it looks like only 4 of them where working at the time of my snap shot
