startx problem

hey i run debian 3.0r2 but when i want to start my startx i get a fatal server error:

AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

tx in advance

ps -ax|grep xfs

yes xfs daemon is running

your VGA card/screen must be with a bad configuration. Reconfigure it with "medium" level (dpkg-reconfigure xxxx don't remember the package, but mus be X or XFree86)
