How can a create a desktop for the clients with just the shortcuts on to the necessary programs and databases, for each user, not using citrix and using citrix.

What version of citrix is the current one ?

Regards

Implement Terminal Server roaming profiles,
set up a default profile,
implement policies, and you'll be up & running in no time ! Peter Van Eeckhoutte

The most up-to-date version of Citrix is MetaFrame XP. There are 3 flavours; Xps, XPa and XPe.

XPs is basic MetaFrame, with the standard tools
XPa includes load-balancing
XPe includes Resource Management and Installation Manager add-ons.

With MetaFrame you simply publish the desktop as an application (with no command line), and that's it.

With Terminal Server, just log in using the client. To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft do not have an equivalent for published applications - this is the only way you can access terminal services.

You can then edit the desktop (using a template user with administrative rights), and all users will get only the desktop you want them to see.

Hope this helps
