How can I place the cursor automatically into the same position of a reopened document as it was when I left?

hi,
Probably, the cursor does come to the same place where you had left it the last time you saved the document!

Well ... I have Word 97 here at work...I just went and created a file with my cursor positioned about half way down the page. I saved it and when I re-opened it the cursor was at the default position in the top left-hand corner.

I will have to do some research...I am not sure this is something that could be done aside from some VB code, which I am sure could place your cursor at a specified location upon open of application.

Hi Ascht,
If you press Shift+F5 after you open the document, you will be returned to your previous last worked on location in that document.

Thanks msciulli...we are all learning from each other. I am writing that one down for future reference:)

Look, it's easy.

Just record a macro called MarkSpot that inserts 10 Xs, you know: XXXXXXXXXX.

Then record another macro called FindSpot that finds 10 Xs, you know: Ctrl-f and type in 10 Xs.

When you record them, assign shortcut keys, like Ctrl-Shift-M and Ctrl-Shift-F. No problem!
