startsrc -s named (bind9.2)

I have installed bind(9.2) on my AIX 4.3.3 server.
I have broken the links to the old bind(4) and re-established them to the new bind.
Both:
/etc/named & /usr/bin/named
now point to /usr/local/bin/named

startsrc -s named starts named successfully.
lssrc -s named falsely reports that named is inoperative.

What am I missing?

a specific version of bind9 from IBM AIX Linux Affinity toolkit

I D/L BIND-9 from the Bull site and installed it with SMIT.
Where do you recommend I get the source from , if not Bull?

Linux Affinity toolkit is present on IBMs website and only these programs use *src to control their operation
Rest uses kill -SIG??? for daemon control
