Hi,

I am accessing about five Solaris servers though a client machine. Normally when I turn on the client I would see a list of all the servers and choose which one to log on. But now I cannot see one of them. I am able to get into it through the console (Ctrl, Alt,F2) but I cannot go into it through the X Window. In the console I rebooted the server several times but it still does not show up in the list.

Does any one know what could be the problem and how I can manage to get back the X Window in this server?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Is the CONSOLE= line in /etc/default/login active (ie not commented out with a #)? Not sure if this would make a difference in this case, but perhaps worth checking.

Akiba,
The only machines that come up in the host list are machines that are in the same subnet as the client machine. Check the IP address of the server that you are having problems with to see if it is on your subnet.
