Starting X-Server under Solaris 8

What is the correct way to start X using multiple windows?
 
??? X server always starts if Sol is installed on a
machine with grphic board ... always multiple windows

can you clarify?

Try the following:

# /usr/dt/bin/dtlogin -e (this enables the CDE desktop)
# reboot

(when it boots up you may need to wait a minute or two before the GUI starts. Be patient and do not hit enter or it will take you to a command line login screen.)

If you mean multiple screens I think /usr/dt/config/Xservers is the file that you're looking for. See the comment at the bottom of the file. Annihilannic.
