I upgraded my G3 PowerBook to OS X, which includes a Utility called "Disk Utility." When I run Disk Utility and select the First Aid feature, it denies me the option, "Verify Disk."
The reason is that "Disk Utility" resides on the start-up hard drive, and canot examine & fix drives on which it lives. Thus in order to use Disk Utility on my hard drive, I need to Start-UP from the OS X CD. However, the OS X CD that I purchased is designed to upgrade OS 9, and when I boot from it, that's ALL that it will do: attempt to upgrade OS 9 to X. It won't let me view it's OS X directories, which would include the Disk Utility executable file.
Any suggestions? Paul Philpott, Detroit
