starting up email server , imail to be exact.

ok my handle says it all, i have NO clue as to what is involved in seting up my own server, i have read a few threads and know a deicated 56k modem just wont do, so aside from what speed to run at , how the hell do i setup from home ?<br>

i will be running ubb's and the site from an established aussie server , but the email i want/and think i have to run myself,. ill run a pIII max out the ram etcetc but its all the dns stuff thats got me beat, how do i get my domain name ip number whatever onto the comp ? <br>

question probaly sounds dumb to you , but i havent been able to find an explaintion that does not require transation to laymans yet,.<br>

this is dependant on whether your IP is static or dynamic? <br>
STATIC = IP never changes<br>
