Hi,

I preparing to take 70-176 at the end of March. This is my first test for the MCSD. Now I hear that MCSD.NET is either coming out or is out!

How long will I have to finish the MCSD before they stop that and go to MCSD.NET???

If somebody could help me, I can figure out what to do...

Thank you very much!!
Keith

Keith,

All is not lost! Some of the .NET exams will be out in their beta versions soon. You can only take the beta exams if MS warrant you are an appropriate candidate. MS have said that the new .NET architecture exam (a core exam) won't be available until 2003.

Sooo, it's gonna be quite a while before you can take the .NET exams even if you want to.

If you choose to take the current MCSD track, it won't be "exterminated" just because the .NET MCSD comes out. MS say "The MCSD certification on .NET and the existing MCSD certification will be offered concurrently; current MCSDs will not be required to upgrade to the .NET track to remain certified."

Hope that helps put your mind at rest...

Happy studying!

Just because .NET cert is coming out, it doesn't mean MCSD is totally wasted. There is still a lot of good material in MCSD that is pertenant to company solutions. Do you think people will jump on the .NET band wagon....today? In a month? I don't think so! It will be a while. I passed the VB Desktop, and still have three to go. However, I have found the material to be extremely useful in tackling interview questions and getting a better sense of the overall "solution" in the business sense!

I also got an email from MCP: there are only 28k MCSD's in the world...why so low, when compared to MCSE (450K+)?!!!!!
