starting point on Web development in C/C++

I am beginning to develop an application, destined to run especially on web servers. One of the aspects would involve allowing access to data stored on server(s) by all means, like FTP, SMB, NFS etc.
Can anybody suggest some starting points on this (documentation, approach etc...). I know it's a big programming chapter, in which I don't have much experience, but any help would be appreciated.
