Hello,
I'm from the Vb 6 form (boo hiss?), and now I'm venturing into the wild world of C++. Heres my question:

I currently have something Call BloodShed Dev C++ does this do what all the others do? Is the code different?

What is the most ecomical Development suite?

What's the best book|website|articale for a NEWBIE C++er?

Thanks Brad,

Read this posting from the creator of C++ Bjarne Stroustrup it is perfect advice for a newcomer:

My advice is to stick to ANSI standard C++, and Microsoft Visual C++ is a pretty good development environment for many reasons. My personal reason is the ATL which is a set of functions that enable faster development of ActiveX objects in C++. Some people like the MFC which is a set of functions that make windows programming easier but I don't write windows programs so I don't care either way about that. MS VC++ is also widely used, so you can get help easier.

Thanks for your reply,
I will see IF i can get a copy of VC++ from my school.

Visual C++ is definitely the way to go.

Good luck
