Hi all C programmers

I want to learn c and was wondering if anyone could give me some places to start and good resources to use.

Also could anyone tell me what c is good for. for instance java is good with objects and creating appletts. But what is the power of c. and what is it mainly used for.

It's especially good at the lower levels - like writing operating system (eg. Linux) for example.

C is also highly portable. Almost every environment which you're ever likely to use will have a C compiler, whether its your wrist-watch, mobile phone, gameboy, games console, PDA, PC or supercluster.

Whenever a chip maker releases a new processor, the first language to be ported to it (after assembler) is usually C.

Writing operating systems, services and applications in any of the domains listed above.
