Starting\Opening Excel 97

Whenever I start Excel 97 it tries to open every file in my nominated data directory (C\:My Documents). I know I have dealt this before but I had to re-install Office and I can't remember how I fixed the problem originally.

Under Tools, Options, General tab, do you have C:\Mydocuments in the "Alternate startup file location"?

If so, clearing that should take care of the problem.
