I installed Seagate Info on my PC as a test, and backup for the Seagate Info on the server. The server is functioning fine, but each time I boot-up my PC, the APS will not start as a service. I have to start it through the Start, Programs. Then it works just fine. How can I fix the APS so that it will start as a service?
Thank you for your help.

This is probably a silly question, but since you haven't stated, I'm going to ask it:

You have included the Info APS in your Startup folder, haven't you?

Yes, and it tries to start, but gives me a message that it was unable to start. I can get the actual message if you need it. Thanks.

Placing it in the startup isn't the same as having it start as a service, right?

Is it set to start automatically in the services?

Are you using the same account as you used to install it?

If not, change to Log On as This Account and give the same user and PW of the account that installed it (on the logon tab of the Aps Service), might resolve it.

What OS are you running on your PC?
If it's W95/8 then obviously you do not have the option to run services.
If it's NT/2K then ensure that the account that the service runs under has sufficient priveliges. We run it using the domain administrator account to ensure there are no issues.
Tha APS service also has dependencies that need to be fulfilled before it will try to start. If you run the utility servdep.exe which is on the Seagate CD, this will tell you what services need to have started before the APS will try to start. I have altered some of the dependencies in the past using this to get around various startup problems.

Whoops. I must have been half asleep when I posted.

The APS only needs to be in the startup folder if it's supposed to start up as a process on bootup.

As a service, like SynapseVampire said, make sure that it's set to Automatic in Control Panel/Settings.

If it's trying to start because it already has a status of Automatic, then go into Start/Programs/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer, and read the log which should have been spawned when the start up failed. It should explain why it took a dive.
