Starting application via filename extension

I want to show an AutoCAD drawing with a Button in a notes document (R5) on Windows machines. I am using formula language to get the filename and -path of the drawing. There are different software packages and application paths at the different user machines.
So, I want to start the "viewer" via the filename extension (.dwg). There is no problem to do this in Windows. But, how can I do it in Notes ?
