I have a need to auto-launch an application maximized and would really like to take away the user's ability to re-size or close the window.

In particular I would like to launch the Citrix ICA client for Solaris full screen. Is there any way to specify a window size from the command line?

Please help,

Most X programs take a "-geometry" argument in the format

-geometry WxH+X+Y

The "+X+Y" part of the argument is optional, and specifies the offset of the window's top left hand corner from the top left hand corner of the screen. Using "+0+0" will make the window appear with it's origin at the top left of the screen.

The "WxH" parameter specifies the width and height of the window. Set this to be your screen size, and you should be OK. One problem you may have with using this option is that the application may have a maximum size that you can set from the command line.

As far as removing the ability to close or resize the window, you *may* be able to do something in the .Xdefaults file for each user. However, I'm not sure which parameters would need to be set to what value for your particular app.

Hope this helps.
