Hello,

We are using a little Access database (mde) to collect all kind of questions from computer users to us (system administrators). We woul'd like to place a link to this mde file in our Sharepoint main site. When we click the link it will open Access and our mde file but it asks for permission twice. It opens Acces twice too. I've tried everything but can't get it to work right. I think it shoul'd be possible because it works fine with an Excel sheet. Is there anyone who can help?

Thanks in advance, Peter

I found sharepoint doesn't like to have mde files sitting in a DL. However you can place it on a shared drive and create a link to it useing code like this.
Code:
file://///drive/folder/yourdatabase.mde

This is how I get my users to a Access database through sharepoint.

Of note:
It sounds like you have questionair for the users to fill out to inform admin issues, problems, etc.
Have you considered using the built in Survey list?

Thanks for the response. I'll try it today and let you know the result.

The link worked ok but I'm still getting the 'Open File' warning from Internet Explorer. Is there a way I can bypass that warning?

I heard there is a way but I cannot find it as I am still looking for it myself.

You could put the site in the trusted site zone, this could fix the warning.

Microsoft states that when WinXP SP2 is used it's not possible to bypass this warning. So I think we've got to live with it for now. Thanks all for your input.
