I have a StarTalk Flash running v2.1 with the 4 port expansion module.
All of the features requests (F980, F981, F982, F983, F985 etc.) reply "Inactive Feature".
When I dial the DN of the first port (in my case 243) I get a "Busy" reply and tone. When I dial the second (in my case 244) I am asked for mailbox number and password, so I know there is something working in there.
This seems backwards to the NAM I am familiar with.
I have the same results with a 3X8 DR5.1 and 824 DR5.1.
Any ideas why the Features are Inactive?

At this point I am only bench testing.
I will try both of these suggestions and reply with the results.
Thanks

Also check the port status in Maint. If you're getting a fast busy when calling one port (and the display says Not In Service), you may need to reterminate that port. Verify by plugging in a phone.

I checked the status of each port and their B2 channel; all IDLE.
I was able to use 903 until I tried **XFTEST.
903 is now "inactive feature"
**XFTEST replies:
F915: E8030201 INACTIVE
F980: E64F594C INACTIVE
F981: E64F5953 INACTIVE
F982: 564F5941 INACTIVE
F983: 564F5944 ACTIVE
F985: 564F5958 INACTIVE
F986: 564F5948 INACTIVE
F987: 564F5954 INACTIVE
F9#000: 4450302F INACTIVE
F9#001: 44503034 INACTIVE

When I go F983 + PSWD I get SN:287600208#### followed by KEY:

Does this mean I need the key code as mentioned in thread799-602608?

"You should be able to get the key code back from Nortel as long as you can determine the Flash ID number"

Is the "ID number" the serial number?
Can anyone tell me how to contact Nortel?

Thanks everyone

Just to be sure procedure is XFTEST, remove codes, reboot flash, f903, say OK to the codes, F983, Config the flash.

Not sure why it's asking for a keycode, but try just pressing NEXT and/or OK anyway.

The only reason you would need a code is to upgrade it from flashlite to full flash.

What NT numbers are on the card?

I forgot about ACD key code.

For Nortel you need to contact a local Nortel Authorized dealer that has access to the Nortel KRS system.
They can provide it to you for a charge.

In my opinion your better off throwing the flash feature card in the garbage, flashlite has always caused grief.
You probaly could get a full software of the web for the same price as trying to retrieve the code from a Nortel vendor.

The card I have is:
NT5B78EF
ENG/FRN FLASH VML V2.0.10 FC
2001/05

I will try the XFTEST remove the codes and see what happens
Thanks

I found that I could only access F903 one time, so I crossed my fingers and shorted the capacitor. I could then access F903 again. I accessed **XFTEST, clear the codes and re-boot the Startalk. Then I was able to access F983 and enter the config password. I was again shown the serial number and asked for the "KEY:". I just pressed "OK". Then I was asked for the language, Glist, etc. Everything looks ok. I can access all the Feature codes and the config menu. However, when I choose AA or CCR from the F983 menu it says "Not Allowed".
Is this where I need the Key business to unlock the AA & CCR functions?
Is this point where I need to decide if I want AA & CCR do I want to pay to retrieve the Key for this Flash?

Thanks everyone

VML, like curly said, means you won't have access to anything besides basic vm boxes. You can get 2.0 sw for less than $200. I wouldn't bother with key codes for a a startalk.
