Startalk flash dr5 with 3x8

Hi, we recently hooked up a customers startalk flash to their existing Nortel 3x8 with dr5 software. Set everything up and when calling in while the first line in use, the second line gives the caller a fax sound when calling in. We are using auto attendant and not the ccr tree. We've tried restart, power cycle, etc.Any ideas on what the problem is?

Both the 3X8 and the flash do not have any Fax, Modem or RAD capability....only a CICS has a IRAD built in that would perhaps cause this.

What happens when you power down the flashtalk?
Do you see "Line in use" when you hear this fax tone? if not then the line is looped to some other device/jack.

Try pressing Line 2 and dial *73 in case it was forwarded (*72) in error.

Went back and found the alarm was on with line 1, moved it to the fax line and haven't been able to duplicate the problem again. Thanks!

If it was on line 1 then the alarm cannot answer when somebody is on line 1 and why I thought maybe it was on line 2, however the trick for alarm companies is to call line 1 then hangup and call back right away so that their modem will then answer.
I think the modem is told to answer a second call after so many seconds from the first.

I doubt the issue will happen with the fax machine since the duration of a fax is long enough.....besides people hardly fax anymore so the odds of a second fax right after the other is now rare.
