I have a StarTalk Flash connected to a 616 DR5 DS. I would like to use the Flash simply as an answering machine with one mailbox.

Currently, there are three lines configured, all of which ring at all extensions (prime ext is 21). I would like all outside calls unanswered after 4 rings to go to one MB, hear a greeting, and then be able to leave a message.

How do I configure my 616 and the flash to achieve this.

The simplist way would be to set up a CCR tree to have the Auto Attendant answer after 4-5 rings, and have the Home menu greeting tell callers that the call can't be answered at this time, press '1' to leave a message in the General Delivery mailbox. Then have Path'1' be an internal transfer to mailbox 10
This assumes of course that the Flash has AA and is not a Flash Lite

In the flash make Lines Ans=N
Then make sure Call Forward No Answer (programmed in Administration, Set Abilities and about 11 nexts after show set) on the General delivery mailbox (hopefully on ext 21) is set to one ring less than all other Call Forward No Answers on all other sets. Then only the mailbox assigned to 21 will answer for all lines.

sprucegrover: I tried your solution, and it works if I set the AA to answer after 0 tings...if I set it to answer after four rings, even one ring, it never answers - all the sets keep ringing.

arr: I tried setting the AA not to answer any lines and then setting my prime set (21) to forward to ext 34 (the startalk) after four rings. After the fourth ring, set 21 stopped ringing, but all the other sets continued. The other sets have Call Frwd No Ans set to NONE. Any ideas here?

You need a mailbox set up and linked to ext 21. This is done in Voice Mail Administration. Your KSU programming is correct but it seems that you don't have a voice mail box initialized on the Flash. You will want to look at Mbox 10 as this is the gen delivery box. Mbox 10 already exists on the Flash but you must link it to the phone and preferably leave a custom greeting. You might wish to change the COS to 7 so there will be 20 minutes of recording time.

As it turns out, I can't get lines one and two to work correctly w/ Flash. Since I only need three lines, I'm using lines 3,4,5 and forwarding to startalk on no answer for set 21. That works perfectly. Thank you both very much for your help!

Acc,

Did you by any chance remove lines one and two from the default appearance on the Vmail DN? If not try it and perhaps you will get function back for lines 1 & 2.

Glad you got it working. AND thanks for letting us know.

Arr, I had tried removing lines 1 & 2 from the Flash DN; it didn't make any difference.
