I just bought this from a previous owner. I hooked it into my system. F983 works and I tried all the default passwords for 2 digit, 3 digit and , 4 digit. None work. I did the f985 and reset manager and operator passwords. Still no worky! Tried the 266344 and vuola! It walked me through the initial config. It automatically exited me after accepting settings. Now I cannot get back into f983 with any of the 120000 sequence, the intial or anything else I tried. I can get into the f982 operator though. Any ideas? How can I re-initialize?

try feature 903 then select ok for code range. Then 983 will work

I think you misunderstood the problem. f983 works, just does not like any passwords I throw at it. Even after resetting the manager password using f985.

You had keyed: any of the 120000 sequence...
try 1020000.

Remove power and open up STARTALK and short out the battery. This will cause the voicemail to go back to default and then you can start to initilize it.

i think it would of been alot easier to press feat. 985 press 9 / pass resetsmpswd this will reset pswd back to default 120000 1020000 etc. rather then having to take apart the v-mail.

do a feat xftest and test for active codes ...maybe the system used the higher range of codes
