Geez, I'm in a bind (never heard that one before, eh?). I've got a hand-me-down system here, and I need help setting up a StarTalk.

Not being a PBX guy by trade, you'll have to bear with me.

I've got a modular DR5 (I think) - model designator is DS, model number is NT5B01FD-93 (no other designators other than the usual serial numbers/FCC disclaimers). This box works fine, and I've stomped around in it enough to be able to configure it. I've actually got the coordinator and installation manuals for it. My problem is that I was recently given a StarTalk box - no idea which version, model number is NT8B70DH-93, V1.1, SW 1.6. My immediate concern is basically which DN ports to hook to (I'm assuming it interfaces at the block as if it were a phone terminal). It's got two line ports. Assuming I can get that information (which, of course, is not in the DR5 manual), I would then need a configuration manual, as the only book I have on it is the StarTalk Reference Guide.

I have the reset code for the default password, a metal box that claims to be made in Canada, and a boss who's wondering how it could be so hard to plug in a voicemail box...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Superlative,

Theese boxes don't like high "G" voicemail-to-floor contact....

I always leave the first and second port dedicated to the receptionist or attendant(s), so 21 and 22 or 221 or 222 are left for receptoinist and I hook up the VM box to 23 and 24 or 223 and 224, that way nobody asks why there's a gap in the DN numbering... any port, (except ATA , IATA, and paging or music ports) will serve you perfectly; just make sure that there is no forwarding from theese ports or any other abnormal features, as it can mess with your call flow...

The way I did it I used the last two ports on my KSU . Then the phones with VM have to be set to forward to that EXT. on RNA and busy or how ever you wish to have it set up . I got a PDF I can email you on the set up and operation in you'd like .Just email me
mailto:mario.mazza@pacesettercorp.com
I would be more than happy to email it to you .
P.S. the file is like 3mb so as long as your email can handle files of that size then no problem .
If you find a tip helpful Please take a moment to mark it as such.
