Start button missing on task bar

Hi

Strange one this. Every now and again (no set times or set pattern), the Start button at the bottom left hand corner of the task bar disappears for no reason.

Has anyone encountered this or know the reason why?

We have the usual anti-virus in place and all the relevant checks have been made.

Is this happening on multiple PCs or just one? If it's only one, it might be faster to just re-install the OS then to troubleshoot this odd behaviour.

We tried several other computers with the same user and it appears to be just the computer concerned.

We'll try your suggestion and see how we get on.

Just the start button. We haven't resolved it due to time constraints.

are any other icons missing? like quick launch icons, desktop icons, etc...

never had to use it so nothing more i can say on it. i would check it out, scan it etc... before using it.

No, nothing has been installed

There are no other icons missing and everything is working fine. Since posting this, the start button hasn't dissapeared so for the moment we're going to leave it but revist the problem if it happens again.
