I am looking to write a report that will take data from my outside program and create what I need to print 1099 or other legal documents. I have the data ready to go, the problem is I need to put it into a 1099 form, and then print the raw data onto the actual 1099 forms. I guess my question is, can I get these forms that can be used for CR? If not, what do I need to do for this type of work?

The company that I work for has a lot of DOD customers. These customers really want a lot of military/government forms automated as much as possible from the data that we gather. As far as I know you cannot supply a form to Crystal. What we have had to do is draw every line, every box, by hand in Crystal reports.

So, to make a long story short, you cannot get these forms to be used in Crystal. However, the work around is the draw everything yourself, and make it look IDENTICAL to the 1099. We have done this, and it is very time consuming. But it can work...

Good Luck X-)

A simple (although not terribly efficient) way to do it is to get a .bmp of the form, place it in the appropriate header (report, page or group, depending on your reporting needs), and format the section to underlay the following sections. In the following sections, put your data in the appropriate places to line up with the report. It is easiest to do this if you design while in preview mode. Malcolm

You may be able to print forms with CR. I have done checks but the alignment was a pain. What type of printer and how many forms per page? Ken Hamady
