I doubt that doing a reinstall would help, but it's not likely to hurt either.
But first, try using the Power Management Troubleshooter. Just choose Help from the Start Menu, then in the Search box type "standby mode". The troubleshooter link is at the bottom left.
Other than that, I don't think I can help you. I don't have a lot of experience with different motherboards and their various levels of support for APM. Rick Sprague
