I would like to create a standby database with a different database name and file location to be used in read only mode. This database will be shutdown and recovered using the production archive logs on a nightly basis.
I have no problem creating and updating the standby if it has the same name and file location.
I have had a look around Oracle documentation but have not found if this is possible. If anyone has any experience of this OR knows if it is possible to achieve this, please let me know.
