Dear Tek-tippers!

I have used VBA in Access databases before so I know the software but a client of mine has asked we buy him a copy of VBA (they do not have Access on their Office) as a standalone application, intended to write code for an SQL database.... I'm not sure if he knows what he wants but thats what he has requested!

Please stop me if I am going off on a wild goose chase here but is is possible to buy VBA on it's own? If so where from. I have searched around but haven't had any luck... I'm UK based so a place to purchase over here would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

SpandexB

I have answered my own qustion, it's part of any MS Office application so I wil point him at that and see what he says...

For me, there is no standalone VBA (A=Application).
Perhaps he wants Visual Studio ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks for you reply PHV.

No he was quite specific, he wants Visual Basic for Applications.... I'm not sure he knows how to code but who am I to argue? The users always right until you prove them wrong :)

So if what's available in Excel isn't enough for him he's going to have to put his hand in his pocket!

Cheers

If he has any Office application, he has VBA. Actually, if he has any VBA compliant application he has VBA. It is, as PH mentions, related to Applications. It only works from, and in, VBA compliant applications. There is no stand-alone.
So if what's available in Excel isn't enough for him he's going to have to put his hand in his pocket!
Not sure what that means, but if what's available in Excel (or any other Office app) is not enough, then his pocket is empty. I think.

Fumei,

I ment that if the VBA you can access in any MS Office App isn't enough for him he will have to buy something, hence putting his hand in his pocket (to find his wallet :))

Thanks for all your input though, I'm sure my client will be fine.

Regards,

Simon
