I been doing a bit of research, and I am convince this cannot be done, but I will ask away.

Is it possible to set up a distributor (for replication) on it's own server, and used it to pass replication chores between servers. I am looking for publication on serverA pass a snapshot to subscriber serverB using serverD. The two severs are hi-load servers, and the idea is to pull as many processes as we can from it.

I am thinking that the only way to use the go-between is to have serverD pull snapshot from severA as a subscriber. Then, publisher serverD pushes snapshot to serverB. Unfortunately, I would need everything in triplicate rather than A and B to implement this.

Any ideas?

Yes you can setup a distributor on a separate server.

Setup the machine as a distributor and setup ServerA as the publisher. Then setup a push subscription to the subscriber.
