Stand alone compile for Python scripts

Newbie question: is there a way to create a compiled object from Python that will run on its own. We use Python to perform several business functions but till now have been running from within the IT world.

I now need to migrate those functions to the business groups and do not want to install full Python on each workstation.

Suggestions??
