Hello,

We received PDFs from vendors. Someone in our department must stamp them with a stamper and re-send the pdfs back. In order to make life easier, I scanned in the stamp and created a custom stamp with Acrobat. Now, the individual just has to stamp the file via Acrobat and re-send back to the vendor the re-saved document.

The issue is that the re-saved document (the one that has the stamp) will not PRINT the stamp. The vendor requires printed copies for his or her records.

Is there a way to lock or commit the stamp so that when the vendor does print the document\pdf it will in fact retain the stamp we added?

Thanks in advance

James

A stamp is considered a comment by acrobat. So, you have to choose (file/print with comments,) instead of just (file/print.)

Even when you do print with comments, I doubt you will get the result you want because acrobat always annotates the comments with some type of note. You can choose from one of four annotation styles, but I am not aware of way to make it print the PDF with the comments as you view it on the screen.

In order for your vendor to easily print it with the stamp, by just hitting print, you would have to print with comments to a new PDF (which would be annotated,) then send that new PDF to him. You could choose to keep the annotations on a separate page, and delete that page after the new PDF is created, but the stamp itself would still have a small number (1) near it, designating which note the stamp pertains to.

The way I edit PDF’s that people send me is to open them in Adobe illustrator, edit, and re-save as PDF.

Thank you for your response.

I do not know (yet) if the Illustrator route is feasible for this user.

I attempted the Print with Comments... solution. It seemed to work; however, when I choose the last setting "Document and comments with sequence numbers on separate pages" it printed just the page with the comments. I was hoping to pring ALL PAGES.

Am I doing something wrong?

thanks again.

OK- your post got me to do some testing and I found a solution for you, and that I will use in the future... it is easy and simple. It prints the comments just as you see them on the screen- without the annotations. You can disregard my previous post.

When you print, do this:
file/ print
The print box comes up. On the lower part of the box it says "print what:" choose "documents and comments."
This prints the PDF just as you see it with the stamps and comments, but without the annotations. GREAT!

Thank you so much. I do programming work and have done some development with Acrobat. These little tricks escape me and of course I have chased the more complicated routes.

Good eyes on that setting!

Thansk again.

Regards,

Jim

I missed it all this time myself. (last 3-4 years of using pro)

I am glad you posted the question, as it caused me to find the feature!
